Mount Cook in Maori our native language means - cloud-piercing and there is only a 30% chance of ever seeing the summit.
This famous peak played a crucial role in the first-ever successful attempt to summit the tallest mountain in the world Mt Everest in June 1953. Sir Ed always said technically Mount Cook was harder to climb than Everest! Sir Edmund Hillary, a New Zealander, used the peak to practice his very famous climb.
