It's only a short beautiful native bush walk to these famous, crystal clear Blue Pools in Makarora. An easy tramp for all skill levels with swing bridges through a mountain beech forest.
Starting at the car park on State Highway 6 just after the remote village Makarora just north of Muddy Creek. Experience a typical Kiwi swing-bridge overlooking the pools at the mouth of the delightful Blue river. Spectacular large Brown and Rainbow trout can often be seen feeding in the pools. Care to swim? it's very very cold - ice cold in fact!
