Zealandia, the place in the evening to spot our famous nocturnal Kiwi bird - the site was formerly known as the Karori Wildlife Sanctuary is a protected natural area in Wellington, New Zealand easily accessed from the central city, the first urban completely fenced eco-sanctuary where the biodiversity of 225 ha (just under a square mile) of natural forest is being restored.
For all nature lovers, this is a must-visit attraction while here on the Lower North Island. The sanctuary was previously part of the water catchment area for Wellington, between Wrights Hill (bordering Karori) and the Brooklyn wind turbine on Polhill.
