Auckland, based around 2 large harbours, is the major city in the north of New Zealand’s North Island. In the centre, the iconic Sky Tower has views of the beautiful Viaduct Harbour (Americas Cup base) - full of superyachts and lined with bars and cafes. Stunning Waiheke Island is worth the time with its well-known wineries and eateries.
Visit amazing Kelly Tarltons Under-Sea World, or Mount Eden for spectacular 360-degree views or the Auckland Domain, the city’s oldest park based around an extinct volcano and home to the formal Winter gardens, Mission Bay and beach has a delightful seaside promenade. Waiheke Island (45 minutes by boat each way) should be a top priority!
